What we're about at Birmingham Irish ..

Birmingham Irish is the Midlands' leading charity providing support and cultural services to the Irish community. We are based in the Heart of the Irish Quarter in Digbeth, Birmingham.

"Real care in the community"

We provide support to older adults who may be suffering from physical and mental health problems and are having difficulty in engaging with statutory services with the aim of improving their quality of life and personal wellbeing.

  • Befriending Service

    Birmingham Irish provides a high quality volunteer home visiting service ideally for people who live alone. It is ideally suited to people over 60 who have little contact from family and friends.


    We take on volunteers only after thorough checks and references so you can be completely assured that they will be reliable and treat you with dignity and respect.

  • Volunteering

    Our volunteers provide important assistance with our programmes and office functions.


    In our front office they help with your passport applications, provide you with advice about services available, refer you to the appropriate member of staff depending on the problem you may have; be it benefits, legal, housing or health issues.
